"It’s easy to go online and get a quote for your life assurance, home insurance or mortgage. This is perfect for those who have simple needs, know exactly what they want and are happy to process the application themselves. But this is not for everyone. The internet can only do so much.
For example, online purchases are not covered by the Financial Ombudsman. You won’t be advised about valuable free services such as counseling at the point of claim. Nor about how to place your policy in trust to make sure that the claim money goes to the right person, quickly and out of your estate. Nor will you have someone willing to offer advice about the legal process of buying a property or chase things when it all goes quiet and nothing seems to be progressing.
I set up Best Financial Solutions in 2002 to cater for people looking for expert advice from someone who will take the time to know their situation and understand their needs before making a recommendation.
From an Independent Financial Adviser who can cut through the information overload and offer an ongoing service as your circmstances evolve and your needs change.
I believe that people want advice to be in plain English and the process to be as hassle-free as possible. Feedback and guidance given all the way would also be nice.

- Only recommend a mortgage or insurance policy that we consider suitable for you and that you can afford – and always the most suitable from the available options
- Not recommend a mortgage or insurance policy if we can’t find one I consider suitable
- Encourage you to ask if there’s something you don’t understand
- Give you access to a formal complaints procedure should you become unhappy with my service
How you can help me
To help me give you the most appropriate advice, I will ask you to:
- Tell us as much as possible about your income and outgoings, to enable us to properly assess how much you can afford
- Let us know about changes that might affect your ability to repay a mortgage
- Let us know if there is any aspect of our service, or of a product we have discussed or recommended that you don’t understand
- Tell us if you think there are ways we can improve our service
